1.Draw a picture on a 4”x6” note card.Please work from an existing photograph.This picture needs to have three colors and black. 2.Using carbon paper, trace your picture onto four linoleum blocks. 3.Each block should correspond to one of your colors.For example, let’s say that your picture needs the colors brown, red, blue and black.Take your “red” block- now using the carving tools provided, cut away everything that is not red from your block.Continue with each block, untilyou get to black.For the Black block, cut away everything except your lines (both inside and outside each object) so that you can get a black outline. 4.Make sure that you use the tools carefully.Carve away from yourself. 5.Take a glass sheet, and squeeze the ink color that you want onto it.Roll a brayer across the ink until the brayer is covered.Now roll it across the corresponding block.Take the inked block and press it onto a sheet of paper.Apply an even amount of pressure.Re-ink the block, and reprint it on another sheet of paper.Wash the brayer and the glass.Proceed to your next color.When you print the rest of the blocks, make sure that you print them directly on top of the first print.Print the black layer last.You should have two prints when you are done.Number and sign each.
Multicolored Linoleum Block Printing
